On Monday, December 29th Zac, Daniel and I all attended Jackson's sonogram. He was sleeping at first, but then woke up and yawned, which was so cool to see. He has chubby cheeks, weighs about 4.5 pounds right now, and.....has hair! Amazing because Zac and I were both bald babies. So his weight and length are all perfect for all of you that were worried about my vegetarian diet :) The other good thing we discovered is that he is head down (the position you want them to be in after 30 weeks). Right now he is sunny side up, that is how we were able to get some cute photos of him from the sonogram. When we get closer to the due date he should flip over to prepare for birth. Jackson is really active at various times throughout the day, kicking, squirming, etc. and seems to be a healthy little boy. We are really excited and are almost completely ready. Zac's next task is to install the car seat.

Week 30
Well, this is week 30 for us. I am growing little by little. My waist measures about 35.5 inches (I started out at 27 inches). As Zac mentioned in his post, I am now anemic and have to take iron supplements which do not make my stomach feel very good, but I must take one for the team...team Duff that is! I start seeing the midwife every two weeks for the next two months and then every week in February until Jackson arrives. Everything is going well and I am getting excited about Jackson's arrival, it is only 7-10 weeks away! He could be an Aquarius or a Pisces. We will see.....

Anemia
Jennifer got her blood tested and we learned she has a really bad case of anemia. Now she has to take iron supplements and drink"Blackstrap" molasses or risk having a blood transfusion or various other complications. Blackstrap molasses is, apparently, just as bad as it sounds.
She has also decorated the kitchen with lists of new food items that are high in iron - vanilla, walnut oil, lemon juice, lemonade, orange juice, dates, prunes, figs, apricots. Hopefully this works and her iron returns to a normal level.

We have read that playing music and reading to your unborn child can be beneficial. As weird as it sounds, it has become fun and something we look forward to each day. We are playing different genres of music on my I-pod hoping to figure out what kind of music the little guy likes. So far Caetano Veloso, Al Green, Jimmy Buffet, and Bob Marley are his favorites. We are measuring his likes and dislikes by the number of kicks!

The crib
Here are some photos of the crib that Zac and I put together. It only took 3.5 hours! My grandparents bought us the crib and the organic mattress (I love the organic goods!). My mother purchased the organic crib set. I bought the cute little books in Spain this summer when we just found out I was pregnant. The little frog was bought in Paris!
